Hey there!

The latest for Yellow Canoe:
I made these on Thursday.

They are slowly being added to the shop over the weekend.

So, some of you are asking how things are going since I'm not "working for the man" any longer.
Well, things are going okay. I'm having a wonderful time being able to work on new creations more often. Unfortunately, I'm still going to have to get a job part time soon. Very soon. Some things are happening with our old apartment that need to be taken care of, which are out of my control, and the only way to take care of the situation is to have more money. I'm not too thrilled with it all, but I am really hoping to be able to find a fun job. If I found something fun, I wouldn't mind working! I think the reason I hated working so much before is because I've worked in food service for the last 7 years. It's really one of the worst jobs ever. Which is why I was SO gung-ho about being done with it! But If I find something fun, like a neat little local retail shop that sells design oriented goods, then I will be fine.

Fingers crossed.

We'll see what happens, though. I *might* be able to pull things off since Yellow Canoe wares are making an appearance in more and more retail stores across the U.S.

That's all for now, friends!

Look for another update late this coming week.

Retail sucks but food service is even worse. I did some in the dorms in college and never again.

I hope you find something fun. When spring hits I may try getting (very) parttime work at a local organic baby shop. I'm just concerned that I might not be crunchy enough. That I am only semi-crunchy. ;)

Love the wall hangings as usual. One of these days one will be mine!

Just found your site and so love your work. I hope that things are nothing but successful & happy for you. Being an artist myself I know how hard it can be...just don't ever give up on your dream. Life is too short.

Oh Erin, if you lived out here in NY I'd hire you! Good luck finding a nice little part-time gig.

Oh I will try to think of neat little shops to work in! Off the top of my head, I would say:

Sucre
Drunkn Butterfly (though they're kind of tiny so maybe not employing people)
Patricia's

Oh and there's cute shops on Monroe street too. Especially Twigs. That place is awesome.

Good luck!

I've admired your work on etsy in the past and just re-found you through a "favorites"- I'm actually just leaving my career..Friday is my last day! And moving forward with a collaborative craft business.

I will be thinking good thoughts for you on finding some "interesting" and fun work.

I will likely be doing marketing and advertising on a part time basis for a local quilt fabric store AND getting a discount! Perhaps you can find something that will benefit YOU too.

Best of luck!

These are so gorgeous. You'll be making the big bucks very soon! Seriously, you should sell these in Canada. We would go crazy for them:)
